Appointments

We are an appointment-based practice and it is essential to book an appointment for all consultations.

Appointments can be made online or by calling the practice on 4385 3150. We do ask that you notify our staff when phoning if your situation is of an important or urgent matter, so that we can attend to you as quickly as possible.

  • Cancellations

    Please be sure to call and cancel your appointment if you can’t attend, as this will free up your appointment for somebody else.

  • Emergencies

    Urgent and emergency cases (including sick children) will be attended to as soon as possible.

  • Non-Standard Consultations

    Longer consultations are available on request. If you need a long appointment for more complex reasons please advise the receptionist at the time of making your appointment.

    Home visits can be arranged between individual Doctors and their patients where appropriate. If you require a home visit, please advise the receptionist as early as possible.

  • Weekends

    Appointments are required on weekends and Public Holidays. There are limited appointments available to book online.

    We strongly recommend that you contact the practice to arrange an appointment to avoid waiting delays. Please refer to our Schedule of Fees for weekend and Public Holidays rates.

    The Doctors share the weekend roster with two Doctors working on Saturday mornings and one Doctor on Public Holidays.

Fees & Billing

Both Terrigal and Avoca Beach Medical Centres are private billing practices. Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash or EFTPOS (we do not accept American Express). We will electronically transmit the payment to Medicare and provided you have supplied your bank account details to Medicare the rebate will be deposited to your bank account within one to two days.

We offer a discounted fee for pensioners and health care card holders.

  • Consultation Fees

    Consultation fees are displayed at reception.

    Telehealth consultation fees are as per the Payment Schedule. Please be advised a medicare rebate is only available if you have had a face to face consultation with a GP at either our Terrigal or Avoca practices in the last 12 months.

    Pensioners and concession card holders will receive a discount.

    If you are booking a procedure please discuss the fee with the Doctor at the time of the initial consultation.

    Please ask your Doctor if there are additional fees for completing forms or mental health care plans.

    Please be aware that we are a private billing practice. If you are experiencing financial difficulties please discuss this with your Dr.

  • Payment Methods

    All fees need to be paid at the time of the consultation.

    You can pay by Eftpos, Visa or Mastercard.

    We no longer accept cash payments.

    Please note that a surcharge of 2% + 35c applies for card payments.

    Monday to Friday Fees:
    Standard Consultation Fee $90.00 [Medicare rebate is $41.40]
    Long Consultation Fee $135.00 [Medicare rebate is $81.10]

    Saturday Morning Fees:
    Standard Consultation Fee $100.00 [Medicare rebate is $41.40]
    Long Consultation Fee $145.00 [Medicare rebate is $81.10]

    Public Holiday Fees:
    Public Holiday Standard Consultation Fee $130.00 [Medicare rebate is $53.90]
    Public Holiday Long Consultation Fee $175.00 [Medicare rebate is $92.45]

General Information

  • After Hours

    Please call 000 in the event of an emergency.

    The Terrigal Medical Centre is open Saturdays from 8:30 am until 1 pm and Public Holidays 8:30 am until 1 pm.

    We support the Bridges After Hours services which operates from 7 pm until 10.30 pm Monday to Friday, 3 pm to 10.30 pm on Saturday and 10 am til 7 pm on Sunday and Public holidays. You can contact Bridges on 4367 9699.

    The nearest Hospital is Gosford Hospital at Holden Street in Gosford, driving time is approximately 20 – 30 minutes. The phone number is 4320 2111.

  • New Patients

    Both Terrigal and Avoca Beach Medical Centres welcome new patients. If you have not attended the practice before we will ask you to complete a new patient information form, please bring your Medicare card plus contact details for emergency and next of kin.

  • Onsite Parking

    Terrigal Medical Centre has limited parking at the front of the building. There is a free council multistorey carpark at the back of the Crowne Plaza, off Kurrawyba Ave.

    Avoca Beach Medical Centre has limited parking outside the medical centre and free council parking beside the tennis courts.

  • Pathology Results

    Test results may be obtained at the Doctor’s discretion over the telephone, by calling the Terrigal Medical Centre weekdays after 10 am.

  • Patient Privacy

    Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. We abide by the strict National Privacy Principles available at www.privacy.gov.au

  • Script Request

    Repeat prescriptions will require an appointment with the Doctor and there may be a non-rebateable fee charged for this – please contact the practice with your request.

  • Telephone Calls

    Most issues are best discussed with your doctor during your consultation. Your Doctor will be attending to other patients and may need to return your call. If your call is urgent you need to inform reception staff.
