Position Vacant : Central Coast G.P

Terrigal Medical Centre is located in the seaside town of Terrigal on the NSW Central Coast, and about an hour’s drive north from Sydney’s CBD. Originally a retirement and resort area known as “The Playground of Two Cities”, the Central Coast is a rapidly growing area for Sydney commuters to live in and enjoy a beach lifestyle.
A purpose-built medical centre constructed in 1972, Terrigal Medical Centre contains our general practice and skin clinic, and a pharmacy, pathology collection centre and two dentists. The nearest public hospital, Gosford Hospital, is a 20 minute drive away. Our practice has nine consulting rooms available as well as one at our branch surgery at Avoca Beach, a few kilometers to the south. The Medical Centre opens all week, including Saturdays and Sunday mornings. Weekend sessions are arranged on a roster basis. We belong to an after hours cooperative which is manned on a roster basis until 10.30 pm, emergency treatment after this time is provided by the public hospital.
Facilities in the Medical Centre include a Casualty section and operating theatre for minor procedures such as skin surgery and vasectomies. We also have facilities for cardiac stress testing; holter and 24 hour BP monitoring; basic X-rays and fracture treatment; spirometry, anticoagulant monitoring (INRs); childhood and travel vaccinations (we are an accredited travel vaccination centre). These activities are supported by a team of practice nurses, as are our Enhanced Primary Care services such as Health Assessments for the elderly and Care Plans for those with chronic or complex medical problems. The municipal centre of Gosford has a number of medical specialists of most disciplines for referral purposes and hospital inpatient care. None of the current GPs at Terrigal hold hospital appointments or are required to provide care in hospital.
The Central Coast has an ideal climate and location which provides ample opportunities for a healthy lifestyle. There are numerous sporting facilities, world famous surfing beaches, opportunities for sea and harbour sailing, diving, water-skiing and other water sports. Restaurants, cinemas and theatres are close at hand, and the major attractions of Australia’s premier city, Sydney are one to two hour’s travel by private or public transport. Educational facilities include a University College, good state schools and private schools. We will be able to assist the successful applicant with immigration formalities, local accommodation and travel costs.
